Michael Loader

Michael is a teacher, storyteller and performer who works with people of all ages from nurseries to elders’ homes. He works in a variety of settings including, education, mental health, adults with learning disabilities, charity and community projects. His creative work abroad has involved children’s homes in Romania, street theatre in East Germany, adult workshops in Spain and facilitation with corporations in Switzerland.

 

More recently he has led a number of intergenerational and multicultural projects in B&NES, Bristol and North Somerset alongside schools and other agencies exploring issues such as immigration and cultural heritage.

 

He has been storyteller in residence in St George’s Bristol since 2011, director of Somerset Storyfest from 2012 and a storyteller in children’s hospitals with the Readathon charity since 2014.

Martin Solomon

Martin Solomon is a multi-instrumentalist, and has spent a lifetime studying and performing many different musical genres.

 

On his travels Martin has studied the sitar in Bombay, Indian classical violin in Assam and Klezmer in East Germany. He performs both the sitar and violin with Indian chanting groups around the South West.

 

He is a founder member of Bristol's Pindrop Band, and is a well-known Celtic harp player and teacher.

 

Martin directs and conducts the 'Gasworks Scratchy Folk Orchestra', which allows him to share his passion for encouraging beginners to make music in their communities.

Caitlin Alais Callahan

Caitlin studied Music and Composition at the University of Edinburgh and the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. She works actively as a Pianist, Double Bassist and educator around Bristol, performing in diverse groups such as Vervain, The Big R Big Band, Halftone Quartet and Proserpine.

 

Caitlin is passionate about music education, working mostly with youth vocal ensembles including South Bristol based Cosmos Children’s Choir, and Weston College’s Musical Theatre department."

Alison Francis Black

Ali is a classically trained violinist. She studied at St Catherine's College, Oxford and has enjoyed over twenty years of performing.

 

She has played violin in The Lochrian String Quartet and Ensemble for over eighteen years and has enjoyed a varied musical career with them performing, filming and recording all over the country and most recently in Italy (www.lochrianensemble.co.uk).

 

Ali has a passion for world music and has worked on albums with artists from the UK, Cuba, Colombia and the Lebanon. She also loves folk music and runs her own ceilidh band (Lochrian Ceilidh Band) and is a founder member of the Celtic folk band Vervain (www.vervainband.com).

 

She loves working with children of all ages and 11 years ago co-founded 'Top of the Tots'  which runs music and signing classes for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and children with additional needs in her home town of Yatton. (www.topofthetotsyatton.co.uk).
